Only the essentials. You will sign in with your email; MMM keeps the legacy username field out of your way.

Use the email you want to use to sign in. An institutional address is helpful, but verification is not required to create your cohort.
At least 8 characters, including at least one letter and one number.
No paperwork before the cohort.
Institution verification is only needed later if you choose protected high-stakes workflows. It does not block account creation, cohort creation, or sharing the student enrollment link.
